What we want to cherish together with visitors to Miyajima
Since ancient times, Miyajima has been revered as "the sacred island of the gods."
People saw the divine in the island.
As a place to revere the divine, the shrine was constructed out over the water so as not to harm this embodiment of the gods.
In order to convey the nature of Miyajima, its culture and history, and the wishes and daily life of people here, which we have protected thus far, to the next generation, we ask for your cooperation in obeying these three important rules.
Cherish Miyajima's nature
Diverse flora and fauna have formed a harmonious ecosystem in Miyajima's nature.
We have protected this nature and lived by cultivating the wisdom needed to coexist with wildlife.

Cherish Miyajima's culture and history
Even as time goes by, the original scenery on Miyajima remains unchanged.
With a deep appreciation for the depth and beauty of that history, we have passed on our traditions with a mission to keep them going.

Cherish the wishes and daily life of the island's custodians
On Miyajima, deeply-held beliefs exist within daily life.
We have lived with pride in our sacred island.
